Professional Development Workshops at mem7iman Child Development Centre
The Principles of the Reggio Emilia Approach Participants will explore the fundamental principles of the Reggio Emilia Approach and how they align with principles of the core curriculum. The workshop will focus on connecting theory, research, and practice. The session includes descriptions of research relevant to the Reggio Emilia approach, as well as reading resources.
Documentation: A Reflection and a Journey By observing and listening, we learn about the child, but by reflecting we learn from the child. Documentation is an integral part of teaching and how it can be used to build community, curriculum, and lead to deeper understanding.
Arts as Languages
Intended for teachers (Kindergarten – Grades 4) from all disciplines, this workshop will introduce different ways to integrate works of art into your classroom. We’ll explore strategies that emphasize literacy and critical thinking skills.
All workshops and presentations are presented at SIB Education department. Please contact Sonya Swift at mem7iman Child Development Centre if you are interested in workshops being presented at your school or community centre. The workshop format is customizable, and will include: powerPoint presentation, question and answer period, and hands-on activities.
Format: Workshop 3 hrs or Presentation 60- 90 minutes
Cost: Workshop: $ 275 plus $10 art supplies fee per person, maximum 12 participants. Presentation: $ 125 plus travel expenses. Please email to: momaymon@telus.net
